Here we have a variety of different views in and around the Old Town Church. Pictures included from 1988, 1989, 1991, 1999, 2000, 2005 and 2006.
Mumfords, Hugh Town, St Marys
Mumfords Store on Hugh, St Marys, pictured here in 1989, 2000 and 2006. Doesn’t look like a lot has changed, from the outside anyway!
Lifeboat Station from the Garrison, St Marys
A view over the tops of the buildings on Garrison Lane, over Town Beach and across to the lifeboat station, seen here in 1969, 1989, 1997 and 2006. The 1997 shot was sent in by blog reader John Jenkins – thanks John!
King Charles Castle, Tresco
This page features two different views from inside King Charles’ Castle. The first is, I believe, looking north – seen here in 1994 and 2006. The second shot is looking west towards the top of Bryher, shown here in 2000 and 2006.

Hugh St looking towards the Chemist, St Marys
The view down Hugh Street towards the quay, on St Marys, seen here in 1987 and 2006. In the middle you can see the chemist, and to the right the Atlantic Inn.
The old boat on Gugh, St Agnes
The old boat which you will often find outside the big house on Gugh, just up the beach slightly from the sand bar – seen here in 1997, 2005 and 2006. The 2007 shot was very kindly sent in by Alison Sutherland – thanks Alison! And the 2005 shot is used with kind permission of…
The Garrison, St Marys – Tree damage
After the big storm in 1987, lots of the trees on the Garrison were uprooted. This shot shows on particularly fine specimen, shown here in 1988 and 1992.
Fraggle Rock Cafe, Bryher
The Fraggle Rock cafe / restaurant on Bryher, pictured here in 1991 (before it got extended) and 2006 (with it’s snazzy new restaurant). I remember back in the ’80s when it wasn’t even a pub – more of a cafe if I remember correctly?
Cromwell’s Castle, Tresco
Cromwell’s Castle seen from the top of the hill on Tresco, pictured here in 1989 and 2006. Cromwell had this castle built looking out over Tresco Harbour, using some of the stones from King Charles’ Castle at the top of the hill.
