Summer Holidays in the Mountains? 4 Reasons Why You Should Go for it!

Posted on June 7, 2022June 7, 2022 by Henry Elliss

Whether you are a student, an employed individual, single, a parent or you have any other social identities, summer break is a time that you must be expectantly waiting for. Most people are especially excited about this time of the year because summer is associated with carefree and happy moments thanks to the sunny weather, which not only makes everyone’s day but also makes it easier for people to go outside.

Now that we are all thrilled about the upcoming summer break, what are you going to do at that time? Travelling to a nice place is the best thing you can do. But where should you go? The options are endless. However, you must have gathered that we are about to propose an unpopular destination for summer holidays and this is the mountains. Why should you choose a mountain over a beautiful beach?

Reason 1: Do something different

Most people tend to associate summer with going to an island or a coastal area so that they can soak up the sun and have fun on the beach. This is not the sole option you have. You can make this summer unforgettable by doing something different, something that you might not have done before. By visiting a mountainous village, you will not only add variety to the types of places you have visited but also may unlock a new taste as you may turn into a mountain lover.

Reason 2: Ski resorts can help you with anything you may need

It is known that all ski resort owners love winter because their establishment fills up with groups of skiers and snowboarders who want to take advantage of the snow and all the amenities. Even if you take out the snow element, ski resorts are a fun place to be in summer as well. New activities are offered so that visitors can see the beauty of the mountain, which is dominated by earthly colours, like green and brown, now. Some typical fun activities are hiking, mountain biking, swimming in lakes, zip lining and so much more.

Reason 3: You can ski in summer

Yes, you read that right. There are some resorts that not only are open all year round but also offer pistes with natural snow still on them. This is possible thanks to their location; they are high up the mountain and there is a glacier there. The perfect example of such a resort is the Zermatt in Switzerland. You should still book ski passes with Erna Low for your holidays in Zermatt or any other summer ski resort so that you can have access to all the available services at the lowest price.

Reason 4: The perfect temperature

It is common for people to feel extremely uncomfortable under the scorching sun even when they are on the beach. Going to the mountains is the ideal solution for people who can’t stand the summer heat. Although they get closer to the sun, the atmosphere in higher altitudes is different and keeps temperatures to lower degrees than the ones that are observed at sea level.

One of my favourite aspects of living where we do now is being surrounded by countryside and farm land - and being able to see an actively-farmed field at the end of our garden. Every time something’s being done to the field I’m out with my camera, usually trying to figure out the names of all the machinery - and it’s so nice to see a product being grown right from seed to harvest. I know it’s not easy for farmers at the moment, and I dearly hope ours are able to keep farming for many years to come - so if you have one near you, make sure to show them all the support you can!
