Fatherhood²: Review – Bathtime Bubble Maker

Posted on December 17, 2012January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Having recently been listed in the “Tots 100” Top 50 UK Dad Blogs (I have no idea why – but I’m very grateful!) I’ve had a sudden slew of brands asking me to review products – most of which I’ve been very happy to agree to. After all, never look a gift horse in the…

Fatherhood²: Christmas is Coming – But Which Day is Best?

Posted on December 11, 2012January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

With Christmas fast approaching, our family is in full-on festive celebration mode. Despite not being particularly religious, Christmas has always been my favourite time of the year – and Winter my favourite season – so I’m loving the new opportunities being a parent offers for making the most of this brilliant time. Whilst chatting to…

Guest Post – Christmas Gift Inspiration

Posted on December 7, 2012January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

It’s easy to leave Christmas shopping to other members of the family but it’s not always an option. Avoid the pre-Christmas panic shopping trip, with comes inclusive of crowds, queues and shops filled with items you can never find! This is one of the great things about the internet… sit down with a brew and…

Fatherhood²: Ten Top Tips for Taming Toddling Terror

Posted on December 3, 2012January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

With my youngest, Freddie, now happily toddling round the house (albeit using furniture supports – for now at least) I’m suddenly reminded of how much terror a tumbling-toddler can enflict on a nervous parent with their new-found mobility. Whilst most of this should be common sense, I wanted to remind myself (and you, if it’s…

Fatherhood²: Should we Lie to our Children?

Posted on November 26, 2012January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Whilst browsing my Facebook feed the other day, I happened upon a status update which a friend had commented on. I’ll paraphrase it a little, but the basic message was thus: “What does everyone think about the whole Santa thing? I’m not sure I’m comfortable with lying to my children…” Whilst it provided an initial…

Fatherhood²: Guest Post – First Words: Dadda. Thanks a bunch!

Posted on November 9, 2012January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

As we draw closer to Christmas (sorry) this also means that we are getting closer to our only son – Sam’s – 14th Birthday, and it’s made me think and reminisce somewhat. Looking back at our son’s childhood has also made me aware of the changes in the relationship between my husband and son –…

Fatherhood²: Oh no…

Posted on November 7, 2012January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

…I can’t think of anything to blog about. But I feel SO guilty when I haven’t blogged for ages. Honestly, this blogging thing is more stressful than I realised. Oh well, here’s a cute picture instead.

Fatherhood²: Off-grid Daddy Time – Making Small Steps

Posted on October 29, 2012January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

This weekend just gone, Sara and I were lucky enough to be invited to spend a weekend with her family in a delightful cottage in Studland, Dorset. Not only were we surrounded by the beautiful Dorset coastline for a long weekend, Robert and Freddie got to spend some time with their cousins in a very…

Fatherhood²: How well do you know your Cbeebies presenters? [QUIZ]

Posted on October 13, 2012January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

As a regular Cbeebies viewer (with the children I hasten to add – well, mostly!) I often find myself discussing the channel and it’s shows with other parents. Whilst my son’s biggest worry is how Kwazzi and Barnacles will get out of their latest scrape, I enjoy the usual parental activities – internally reviewing the…

Fatherhood²: Another First – The Self Portrait!

Posted on September 17, 2012January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

This post won’t be a long one, but it’ll certainly be a proud one. For today, Robert drew (what we think is) his very first self-portrait! Drawn at school today, and very proudly presented to Mummy as she found it in his book bag, Robert was VERY pleased that Sara chose to hang it on…

As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I want As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I wanted to give a shout-out to all the farmers in the local area, especially Brimpton’s own @mbowden1954. One of my favourite aspects of living where we do now is being surrounded by countryside and farm land - and being able to see an actively-farmed field at the end of our garden. Every time something’s being done to the field I’m out with my camera, usually trying to figure out the names of all the machinery - and it’s so nice to see a product being grown right from seed to harvest. I know it’s not easy for farmers at the moment, and I dearly hope ours are able to keep farming for many years to come - so if you have one near you, make sure to show them all the support you can!
