Fatherhood²: Guest Post – Joe Jackson isn’t a Daddy Blogger. I Am.

Posted on October 23, 2011March 3, 2018 by Henry Elliss

A long time ago, I had a personal blog. There was no reason or meaning or direction to the blog. It was just me talking about being confused by stuff that didn’t make sense. Like Republicans, or dumb jobs where you had to wear a piece of cloth that divided your upper body to make…

Fatherhood²: Routine – The Joys and the Sorrows

Posted on October 19, 2011March 3, 2018 by Henry Elliss

I don’t profess to be anywhere near an expert in parenting – in fact, I’d go as far as to say that in a lot of respects I’m nothing more than an amateur. But what I DO know is what has worked (and not worked) for my children. Routine is one thing that has made…

Fatherhood²: Guest Post – A Little Bit of Perspective

Posted on October 17, 2011March 3, 2018 by Henry Elliss

They say that having children changes you, your life will never be the same and in some cases will add years to you. I think one thing is for sure: having children changes the way you see things. In some simple respects, it could be the day to day things like driving a little more…

Fatherhood²: Danny Wallace is a Dad (Interview)

Posted on October 16, 2011March 3, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Danny Wallace is a man. This much we know from his popular column in ShortList magazine. But he is also so much more than a man – the presence of a Y chromosome in Daniel’s DNA is the least of his talents. He is also (in no particular order): A best-selling author; A TV producer,…

Fatherhood²: Want to Hear From Other Dads? Be My Guest!

Posted on October 15, 2011March 3, 2018 by Henry Elliss

I’ve been “daddy blogging” for almost 10 months now, and am slowly finding my feet. I’ve got some lovely regular readers as well as some lovely guest posters – some of whom don’t get half as much praise as they deserve. So I wanted to go some way to correcting that here, by highlighting some…

Fatherhood²: Guest Post – When a Part of a Dad Dies

Posted on October 10, 2011 by Henry Elliss

It’s good but it’s not right… There are some things in life that are wrong, even when they’re right. Things that you know should happen, are appropriate and even to be expected, but you still don’t need to welcome them. Its birthday season in the Wall household. My eldest was 9 last week and the…

Fatherhood²: Thousands of Parenting Fails [Pictures]

Posted on October 5, 2011March 3, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Every so often, I (as I’m sure you do too) get sent a link to a list of funny “Parenting Fail” pictures – or occasionally, an email with a stream of them in. Rather than making my own pseudo-list though, I thought I’d just point you towards some of the best lists I’ve seen so…

Fatherhood²: Robert’s First Week at Pre-school

Posted on October 1, 2011March 3, 2018 by Henry Elliss

As I blogged about a couple of weeks ago, this month has seen Robert finally making his way in to the big bad world of education, starting full-time (well, if you can call mornings-only “full time” – I guess that’s part time actually…) pre-school. At the end of his first full week of pre-school, I’m…

Fatherhood²: Guest Post – Married to the Military

Posted on September 26, 2011 by Henry Elliss

Note: Whilst I usually like to include a short bio at the end of guest posts, this writer wanted to remain anonymous – preferring to be known simply as “Marine Wife”. It’s such a good read, I didn’t mind going with that at all. So without further ado, here’s Marine Wife’s story – which I…

As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I want As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I wanted to give a shout-out to all the farmers in the local area, especially Brimpton’s own @mbowden1954. One of my favourite aspects of living where we do now is being surrounded by countryside and farm land - and being able to see an actively-farmed field at the end of our garden. Every time something’s being done to the field I’m out with my camera, usually trying to figure out the names of all the machinery - and it’s so nice to see a product being grown right from seed to harvest. I know it’s not easy for farmers at the moment, and I dearly hope ours are able to keep farming for many years to come - so if you have one near you, make sure to show them all the support you can!
