Guest Post – Family Friendly Ibiza

Posted on May 21, 2013January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Happy Family With Two Children Playing In A Swimming PoolIbiza might be most often associated with hedonistic clubbing holidays, but there’s plenty on offer on this beautiful island for families too. If you’ve never considered Ibiza as a family holiday destination, you might be surprised to learn just how much there is here beyond the nightclubs and bars.

As well as the sandy beaches, the history, architecture and culture of Ibiza are what make the island appealing to families, as well as the top class leisure attractions such as the large aquarium, bowling, go-karting and games park.

The Cap Blanc Aquarium is set in a natural cave and is full of loads of fantastic and colourful fish and marine-life local to Ibiza, including rays, lobsters, dorados and yellowtail fish. As well as the sea creatures there are shark eggs, sea sponges and other sea-life that kids will find fascinating. It’s located just next to Cala Gració beach so a good family day out could be to spend half a day at the aquarium and half a day at the beach.

You can find out more about the aquarium at aquariumcapblanc.com. You will probably be able to buy tickets from your hotel or holiday rep and, as with all of the major family attractions in Ibiza, you may save money by buying an excursion ticket that offers entry to more than one location. Another way to save money can be by booking tickets online.

When the kids get restless around the pool, go-karting is a fun activity for them to blow off some steam. There’s a go-karting centre in San Antonio, open throughout the summer months and into October. If you choose to stay near San Anonio, San Antonio Bay is recommended as the family-friendly next-door neighbour. Although only a short walk down the beach from bustling San Antonio, San Antonio Bay is that little bit more peaceful and, as a result, is popular with families and couples rather than just hard-core clubbers. Rosamar Ibiza is a three-star hotel in the San Antonio Bay area with evening entertainment put on that’s child-friendly but which people of all ages can enjoy.

As well as the family-friendly attractions on offer in Ibiza, there are some lovely walks you can take to discover some of the beauty of the island, which is often missed by those just coming for the clubbing. The sunset here is legendary and a family meal out watching the sun go down is a perfect way to finish off a day of family fun in Ibiza.

As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I want As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I wanted to give a shout-out to all the farmers in the local area, especially Brimpton’s own @mbowden1954. One of my favourite aspects of living where we do now is being surrounded by countryside and farm land - and being able to see an actively-farmed field at the end of our garden. Every time something’s being done to the field I’m out with my camera, usually trying to figure out the names of all the machinery - and it’s so nice to see a product being grown right from seed to harvest. I know it’s not easy for farmers at the moment, and I dearly hope ours are able to keep farming for many years to come - so if you have one near you, make sure to show them all the support you can!
