This is a Reading Buses bus pass – one of those clever new ‘smart cards’ (much like an Oyster Card) that virtually all travellers on the Reading Bus network use. They work remarkably well, and look fairly normal in the scheme of things.
They all seem to be covered in the URL ‘EasySaver10.co.uk’ – so you might be forgiven for thinking that this was their website.
Right?
Surprisingly, you’d be wrong. Until last week when I spotted this error, the domain name didn’t go anywhere – despite being plastered across EVERY single bus pass in Reading.
It’s not even like they had it but forgot to renew it either – according to the LOOKUPs I did, the domain name has never been registered. So it seemed like fair game for me to register it myself.
There’s a lesson here for marketers, but I’m not going to be so crude as to spell it out for you…
You sir, just won 10 golden internets.
Good point, but frankly, you should have pointed out the oversight to them instead of snatching the domain. At the very least, it would have been a courtesy to any confused customer to actually link to the site they are looking for: http://www.simplybus.co.uk/
