Fatherhood: I Made It! Well, according to Netflix…

Posted on May 11, 2015January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

netflixIn what I can only assume is some sort of clerical error, the people at Netflix UK have deemed me worthy of joining their ‘Stream Team’. Aside from being an excellent, rhyming name, I’m not entirely what this involves but they have sent me a Netflix subscription and will keep me updated when new stuff gets added to Netflix.

Now please don’t tell the people who chose me for this, but having tried out Amazon Instant after Christmas (and found it wanting – you have to pay for most of the content still!!) I was about 2 weeks away from joining Netflix anyway – so they saved me a job. Plus, they’re going to appeal to my laziness by telling me what is on there so I don’t even have to LOOK. Laziness WIN!

We’ve only had it for a day or two, but the kids have already become addicted to what is apparently a highly exciting kids show (which seems to surreptitiously teaching them maths – shhhh, don’t tell them!) called ‘Team Umizoomi’. I’ve watched an episode with them, and to me it just seemed like a bunch of annoying cartoons counting stuff – but I’m pretty sure I’m not the target audience, so don’t take that as a bad review. Here, take a look at it and tell me I’m wrong – annoying right?

Still, the kids seem to enjoy it, so I certainly can’t complain. Once I’ve had a chance to try a few grown-up shows out for size, I’ll hopefully have something more interesting to say about all this…

So for now, I’m making the most of being in the Stream Team, hoping somebody from Netflix doesn’t email me to reveal it was all a big misunderstanding and that they’re cancelling my membership…

As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I want As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I wanted to give a shout-out to all the farmers in the local area, especially Brimpton’s own @mbowden1954. One of my favourite aspects of living where we do now is being surrounded by countryside and farm land - and being able to see an actively-farmed field at the end of our garden. Every time something’s being done to the field I’m out with my camera, usually trying to figure out the names of all the machinery - and it’s so nice to see a product being grown right from seed to harvest. I know it’s not easy for farmers at the moment, and I dearly hope ours are able to keep farming for many years to come - so if you have one near you, make sure to show them all the support you can!
