Lego, one of the best known and most played with toy of the past couple of decades. But Lego isn’t only for children – adults also like to play with it. What makes certain Lego sets so expensive? It is not the number of pieces or a popular theme. Usually the value goes sky-high after its retirement. Rarity is the most important factor that makes a Lego set expensive. If it’s rare, and desirable it will be valuable. Here are the top 5 most expensive Lego sets.

This Lego Café Corner has 2,056 pieces with an estimate value of $1,576.00. The building has three floors and includes all sort of mini features like the hotel sign, windows and a bicycle. The café corner includes some amazing architecture techniques like the entrance to the hotel area.

4. Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower Lego set is the tallest set of all and stands at almost 107 centimeters. The Eiffel Tower includes a French flag made out of Lego bricks. It has a value $1,601.93 and exist of 3,428 pieces.

3. Mr. Gold

This little man will cost you $1,831.09. Mr. Gold was produced to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Lego’s mini figures series. There were only 5,000 produced which makes the golden figure so expensive.

2. Statue of Liberty

This impressive Statue of Liberty is worth about $1980 and includes 2,882 pieces. It has a length of 61 centimeter. At the time of its release, it was the largest set produced by Lego. It is entirely made of sand-green bricks.

1. Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal Lego set became the largest set when it was released in 2008. It has a value of $2,603.40 and consists of 5,922 pieces. The Taj Mahal has some amazing features and details and has the most elements ever featured in one set. The set is 51 centimeter wide and over 41 centimeter tall.
