Guest Post – 5 Activities to Give You a Well Earned Break from Parenting

Posted on February 27, 2017January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Parenting Is a Full Time Job, so a Break Can Work Wonders.

There are plenty of jobs that imply a great deal of responsibility and in return reward players both materially and professionally. There is usually an indissoluble link between the importance of the duty and the financial compensation. Most people would agree that money isn’t everything and the personal satisfaction can be much more important. All things considered, parenting is arguably the most important activity in a parent’s life and definitely the most meaningful.

Doing everything by the book isn’t a recipe for success, since there is no universally accepted way. Being 100% committed and realising the fact that this is an activity for life will increase the chances to succeed. Given the importance of the job and the long-term consequences, it’s essential to do everything right. Having said this, breaks are extremely important, for parents to recharge their batteries and to be able to perform at their best.

Make the Most of Each Break from Parenting

It’s completely false to assume that the desire to take a break from parenting makes you a bad father. Breaks are essential in every activity, so why would this be any different when it comes to the most important of them all. Given their relatively low frequencies, it makes perfect sense to try and make the most of them. Everyone has his own idea about having fun, but some activities are more likely to be embraced wholeheartedly.

For example, you can have a lot of fun if you choose to brew your own beer and then share it with other parents. The upside is that this is an ongoing activity that doesn’t distract you from parenting. You can enjoy the best of both worlds, without making any compromises, so why not check it out. Meanwhile, you can exercise in fresh air and do other healthy things to keep you in shape. The upside, is that in the long run, staying fit will allow you to spend some quality time with your child outdoors.

Better Yourself While Having Fun

Regardless of age, people are all children at heart and games continue to exercise the same magnetism on them. There are probably more than 5 ways to be a better father, but spending a lot of time with the child, playing should be at the top of the list. No matter how busy or how stressed one might be from work, playing games with the little one is a must. It also has the merit of relaxing people and helping them forget about work for a while.

Obviously, not all pastimes are suitable to be shared with children. It will take a while before they will get to enjoy the thrills of online gambling, but as a parent, you can use the Internet as your playground. Even if time is of the essence you can still feel the buzz with PlayOJO slots every now and then. In addition to having fun, all the money back rewards, the bonuses and promotions they offer, give you the chance to win some money on the side.

One good thing to come from this week’s rail strikes (and the subsequent week WFH) was my daily sunrise walks - something I really miss when I have to go into London. Fingers crossed that 2023 allows for a few more of them.
