How to choose eye protection for travel

Posted on May 18, 2022May 18, 2022 by Henry Elliss

Travelling is one of the best presents a person can offer to themselves. Broadening their horizons by seeing new places and learning about different customs, traditions and lifestyles can make them see the world through different, more accepting, lenses.

In order to do all that you will need to be able to see them. And this time we are talking literally. Many people take their ability to see for granted. However, if they don’t take care of them, they may even face serious eye conditions. Especially people who travel a lot need to pay attention as in their attempt to take advantage of their trip they exhaust their eyes, and their entire bodies for that matter.

How can someone help their eyes out? The answer heavily depends on every single person’s eye health.

All People:

One thing that everyone should do before embarking on their trip is to book an appointment with their optician for an eye examination in order to check if everything functions properly. The eye doctor will be able to discern any sign of a condition being developing -even if it is at its first stages- and consult you on how to deal with it.

Additionally, you shouldn’t forget your sunglasses, especially if you are traveling in summer. You should check that your sunglasses block all UVB and UVA rays. Otherwise, they do not offer any substantial protection. No matter the case, you should not look directly at the sun even if you are wearing your sunglasses.

People wearing eyeglasses:

You can move to the general category above if you book an appointment on arisvisioncorrection.co.uk in order to get a laser-based eye surgery that will improve eyesight so much that you will not need to use your eyeglasses any longer. It is a safe and quick procedure and the healing period does not last for long. Your doctor will be the one to tell you what exact type of laser eye surgery is better for you.

If you do not want to undergo a procedure, your eyeglasses will enable you to see and explore your new surroundings. It would be a good idea to pack a second pair of glasses with you in case there is an emergency with the first one and you lose them or they break.

People wearing contact lenses: Don’t forget to pack all the necessary materials in order to wear your contact lenses. You should follow all the rules when it comes to wearing contact lenses. Always wash your hands before wearing or removing them. Do not wear them for longer than 16 hours. Do not swim or sleep while you have them on. You should pack a pair of eyeglasses, so that you can still see clearly without wearing the contact lenses all day and exhausting your eyes.

As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I want As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I wanted to give a shout-out to all the farmers in the local area, especially Brimpton’s own @mbowden1954. One of my favourite aspects of living where we do now is being surrounded by countryside and farm land - and being able to see an actively-farmed field at the end of our garden. Every time something’s being done to the field I’m out with my camera, usually trying to figure out the names of all the machinery - and it’s so nice to see a product being grown right from seed to harvest. I know it’s not easy for farmers at the moment, and I dearly hope ours are able to keep farming for many years to come - so if you have one near you, make sure to show them all the support you can!
