In what has become a highlight of absolutely nobody’s year, the announcement of the shortlist for “Celebrity Mum of the Year” was made today – and this year’s shortlist is another cracker. Ladies and Gentlemen, I have seen the future of blogging – and it’s dads! But fear not, this is no rallying cry or declaration of war – quite frankly, it’s a pretty daunting place, this future of blogging… I should probably start at the beginning… When I first started on my journey as a ‘daddy…

Fatherhood²: “Doctor Doctor – I think my child might be German!”

Posted on December 22, 2012January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

As the father of two young boys, I often find myself comparing my children – or more specifically, their various developmental milestones and how quickly they reached them. If I’m being perfectly honest, when Robert was born I didn’t really care much for milestones – I regularly scoffed at my wife as she checked his…

Guest Post – Keeping up with the kids

Posted on December 21, 2012January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

No, this is not a post about exercise, before you start shuffling uncomfortably in your seat and looking shifty, it is more about how to keep up with the ever changing tastes, trends and needs of a child’s bedroom. The bedroom your child has now was probably once a nursery, with night lights and toys…

As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I want As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I wanted to give a shout-out to all the farmers in the local area, especially Brimpton’s own @mbowden1954. One of my favourite aspects of living where we do now is being surrounded by countryside and farm land - and being able to see an actively-farmed field at the end of our garden. Every time something’s being done to the field I’m out with my camera, usually trying to figure out the names of all the machinery - and it’s so nice to see a product being grown right from seed to harvest. I know it’s not easy for farmers at the moment, and I dearly hope ours are able to keep farming for many years to come - so if you have one near you, make sure to show them all the support you can!
