As I’ve mentioned a few times over the summer, Sara and I recently invested in our first family tent, along with all the equipment needed for family camping trips galore. Several months later, and as the last remnants of summer begin to leave us for the year, I’m pleased to report that we’ve made great…

Fatherhood²: Win a signed copy of Jo Pratt’s Madhouse Cookbook

Posted on September 6, 2013January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Some lovely people from Panasonic (they make lots of cooking stuff, like bread makers and combi ovens!) got in touch with me recently, asking if I’d like to give away a copy of cookery wizard Jo Pratt’s new cookbook – so I said yes, of course, because I’m nice like that. After all, who doesn’t…

Posted on September 4, 2013January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Dear marketers, spammers, PR people and lazy SEO folk. This is a friendly final warning to stop sending me crappy articles to “share”, rubbish pitches to promote your products (with zero benefit to me) and other blog spam. I’ve tried to be nice to you – I’ve written several posts outlining my thoughts on your…

Posted on August 26, 2013February 4, 2019 by Henry Elliss

This weekend just gone, we were lucky enough to attend CarFest South, the family festival dreamed-up by Radio 2’s Chris Evans. Sara bought us weekend camping tickets to the event earlier in the year as a treat – and it was one of the main reasons we finally got our camping arses in to gear….

Fatherhood²: Today My Wife Left Me… or So I Thought

Posted on August 21, 2013January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Having spent a very long day traipsing around London today, followed by a long a sweaty train ride home, I arrived at my house a little later than I have been lately. I opened the door and wandered in to our lounge, to be greeted by an empty house. “Hmm, this is a little odd”…

Fatherhood²: Lego, Lego, Everywhere…

Posted on August 20, 2013January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

I was planning to write an interesting blog post tonight, and had been thinking of a variety of different topics I could cover. After a long and quite busy day at work, I thought to myself “I’d like to relax tonight, but I haven’t written a blog for a while – I’d better get my…

Fatherhood²: A Camping We Will Go – It’s Just Like Riding a Bike, Right?

In an exciting development for this family, this Wednesday will see us heading off on our first ever camping trip. Fatherhood²: We Went on a Bear Hunt…

Posted on August 1, 2013January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Today’s post has been written by my wonderful wife (mother of my children, light of my life etc etc). She wrote it off her own back (no begging from me!) so I jumped at the opportunity to post it here – the mood doesn’t take her very often, so I’m making the most of it!…

As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I want As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I wanted to give a shout-out to all the farmers in the local area, especially Brimpton’s own @mbowden1954. One of my favourite aspects of living where we do now is being surrounded by countryside and farm land - and being able to see an actively-farmed field at the end of our garden. Every time something’s being done to the field I’m out with my camera, usually trying to figure out the names of all the machinery - and it’s so nice to see a product being grown right from seed to harvest. I know it’s not easy for farmers at the moment, and I dearly hope ours are able to keep farming for many years to come - so if you have one near you, make sure to show them all the support you can!
