10 of the Best Fenton / Benton Parody Videos

Posted on November 24, 2011March 3, 2018 by Henry Elliss

From time to time I like to blog about something completely unrelated to fatherhood – usually something relating to marketing or social media, but ocassionally something completely off-the-wall. This is just such a time. So enamoured have I been of the brillaint “FENTON! Jesus Christ, FENTON!” video, I’ve spent the past couple of days enjoying…

In a small step away from my usual post topics, I wanted to write a quick post to publicise a really good cause that is doing brilliant work this time of year. Namely, Operation Christmas Child. You may have heard of this or similar schemes in the past, so forgive me if I’m preaching to…

Fatherhood²: Guest Post – The Incidental Transcendentalist

Posted on November 8, 2011March 3, 2018 by Henry Elliss

(or, An Atheist and a Catholic Walk Into a Bar…) I grew up Catholic. I went to church every Sunday and said grace before dinner. I went to catechism during the school year and to summer Bible school when school was finished. The first book I memorized was a children’s version of The Good Samaritan….

Fatherhood²: 5 Top Tips For Getting Professional Baby Photos Done

Posted on November 7, 2011March 3, 2018 by Henry Elliss

As I’ve mentioned in a couple of my previous posts, in the past 3 years we’ve had a number of family photo sessions done with professional photographers. When Robert was born, my brother bought us 3 sessions at a photography studio, which we chose to use over 3 years at roughly the same time each…

Fatherhood²: Even More Baby Must-Haves

Posted on November 2, 2011March 3, 2018 by Henry Elliss

I’ve written a couple of posts in the past about both must-have baby purchases and over-rated baby gadgets, but since becoming a dad for the second time, I’ve been reminded of even more accessories and knick-knacks that have made my life easier. I’ve also asked around some other parents too, to get their must-have purchases….

Fatherhood²: Coming Soon – ‘The Other F Word’

Posted on October 28, 2011March 3, 2018 by Henry Elliss

As a father and a blogger – and a former movie reviewer – I was very excited to see the trailer of ‘The Other F Word‘ recently. I can’t remember the last time I saw a GOOD documentary about being a dad – apart from the odd “Fathers 4 Justice” report on something like Panorama,…

As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I want As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I wanted to give a shout-out to all the farmers in the local area, especially Brimpton’s own @mbowden1954. One of my favourite aspects of living where we do now is being surrounded by countryside and farm land - and being able to see an actively-farmed field at the end of our garden. Every time something’s being done to the field I’m out with my camera, usually trying to figure out the names of all the machinery - and it’s so nice to see a product being grown right from seed to harvest. I know it’s not easy for farmers at the moment, and I dearly hope ours are able to keep farming for many years to come - so if you have one near you, make sure to show them all the support you can!
