My Year in Photos – December 9th – "Look what I made daddy!", originally uploaded by henweb. Today at pre-school, Robert made two Christmas decorations for our tree – a snowman and a sparkly bauble. I have nothing funny to say about that – I think they’re brilliant. I have a creative genius for a…

My Year in Photos – December 8th – "The road to the Mow", originally uploaded by henweb. Being a cold a grey day, I didn’t spend a lot of time outside today, for obvious reasons. My lunch-time walk went as far as Robert Dyas to by hooks (that’s just how I roll…) and straight back…

My Year in Photos – December 7th – "Cat under a hot plastic tree", originally uploaded by henweb. Here’s Holly, one of our two cats, nestled under our Christmas tree – a spot she seems to have taken as her own in the last week. Unfortunately, she’s sitting amongst some very fine-weave fabric which Sara…

My Year in Photos – December 6th – “Who is David Thatcher?”

Posted on December 6, 2010February 24, 2011 by Henry Elliss

My Year in Photos – December 6th – "Who is David Thatcher?", originally uploaded by henweb. Despite the silly title, I did eventually figure out that “David Thatcher” is presumably a clever play on David Cameron and Maggie Thatcher…. but it DID take me a few minutes to figure it out. My first thought on…

My Year in Photos – December 5th – "Christmas has officially begun", originally uploaded by henweb. Today we put our Christmas decorations up, following a trip to a lovely farm shop in Maidenhead and lunch at a VERY busy garden centre. Robert absolutely LOVED the decorations going up, though he wasn’t the most helpful helper…!…

My Year in Photos – December 4th – “Bring me Salvation”

Posted on December 5, 2010February 24, 2011 by Henry Elliss

My Year in Photos – December 4th – "Bring me Salvation", originally uploaded by henweb. We decided to do some Christmas shopping in a nicer location than Reading today, deciding instead to visit Oxford. Despite it being just 30 miles North of Reading, and Sara having done her PGCE there way-back-when, I’ve not actually been…

My Year in Photos – December 3rd – "Facebook in real life", originally uploaded by henweb. While doing a bit of shopping in Tesco at lunch time, I spotted these Facebook gift cards. I’d heard that they sold these in the US, but hadn’t realised they’d hit the UK too. I guess I can buy…

My Year in Photos – December 2nd – "Insert snow photo here", originally uploaded by henweb. As the snow has finally reached both Chiswick and Reading, I spent my free parts of the day snapping many-a photo around and about. This is the church on Turnham Green – one of the obligatory shots I take…

Posted on December 3, 2010February 24, 2011 by Henry Elliss

My Year in Photos – December 1st – "The weather approacheth", originally uploaded by henweb. Having sat through a couple of days of half the country moaning about the snow, and keeping my fingers very tightly crossed, the snow finally hit us on Wednesday evening – this shot was taken just as we were going…

As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I want As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I wanted to give a shout-out to all the farmers in the local area, especially Brimpton’s own @mbowden1954. One of my favourite aspects of living where we do now is being surrounded by countryside and farm land - and being able to see an actively-farmed field at the end of our garden. Every time something’s being done to the field I’m out with my camera, usually trying to figure out the names of all the machinery - and it’s so nice to see a product being grown right from seed to harvest. I know it’s not easy for farmers at the moment, and I dearly hope ours are able to keep farming for many years to come - so if you have one near you, make sure to show them all the support you can!
