Fatherhood²: Competition – Heroes of the City

Posted on April 6, 2014January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Heroes-of-the-City-post-2When I was sent a copy of a ‘Heroes of the City’ DVD to review, I’m ashamed to admit I was a little sceptical. As a slightly snobby TV-parent (If I had my way, my kids would never watch anything but the BBC) I rarely venture away from the comfort of the TV shows I know – so I went into this experience expecting very little.

Having now heard the (pleasantly catchy) Heroes of the City theme tune at least 20 times now, I can tell you with some certainty that my kids are total converts – they’ve watched the 5 episodes on the DVD several times and I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve been ordered to read the accompanying book at bedtime. High praise indeed!

So when I was offered some free HOTC goodies to give away for a competition, I snapped it up.

hotc_engEven if you’ve not seen the show before, I urge you to give it a go – it’s well made, the stories are solid and it isn’t some tiresome Disney-clone. They’ve even got an accompanying Smartphone app you can download (get it from the iTunes store or on GooglePlay)

The winner of the competition will get a prize-bundle including a DVD, storybook, two die-cast toys, a beach ball and sticker book. And it’s easy to enter!

All you have to do to enter the competition is complete the form below. That’s it – in 5 days time a winner will get picked and I’ll email/tweet you to let you know. Good luck!

Some lovely sunrises, lots of ice on the canal and a couple of rivers and lakes that were quickly merging together, at the expense of the newly-laid track. At least my wellies stayed strong!

One good thing to come from this week’s rail strikes (and the subsequent week WFH) was my daily sunrise walks - something I really miss when I have to go into London. Fingers crossed that 2023 allows for a few more of them.
