Fatherhood: Competition – Fireplace Accessory Set

Posted on December 11, 2016January 6, 2018 by Henry Elliss

dscf2016With Winter now firmly making it’s presence felt, there’s nothing I like to do more of an evening than sit in front of our log fire.

When we originally moved to this house, I wasn’t really very fussed on having a real fireplace – it was a “nice to have” but not a deal-breaker by any stretch.

Having now lived here for a few years though, I can safely say it’ll be a must-have in our next house move, whenever that is.

A roaring fire keeping you warm on a chilly Sunday afternoon is one of the best things in the world, and something I enjoy with the family regularly.

dscf2007So when the lovely people at CastFirePlaces asked if I’d review one of their “Companion sets”, I figured I’d have to be a fool to pass that up.

Even better – they told me that if I liked it, they would offer up a set for me to giveaway to my readers too – so it’s win-win all round!

Thankfully for you, I absolutely love the companion set they sent me (which you can see in many of the photos in this post) and it is now sitting pride-of-place next to our log basket.

As you can see, the set they sent me is classically made and contains all the accessories you need for keeping your fireplace spick and span – a brush for sweeping up the ashes, a little shovely thing to pick up all the crud, a poker for poking and some tongs for grabbing coals or wood.

704-559_1(Those aren’t the technical name by the way – I’m just guessing, though I expect “poker” is right…!)

I’ve been using the set for a couple of weeks now and it’s still doing the job fantastically – and it looks great, too. Not a necessity I realise, but certainly a bonus when you’re a bit of a fireplace snob like I’m turning into!

If you like the look of the set, you can head to their website to check out that and all their other fireplace paraphernalia – from log-burners to log baskets, stoves to mantelpieces, they’ve got it all.

And if you’d like to win a set of your own, you can enter my super-easy competition below.

You’ve got a week to enter – so the winner will get their prize in plenty of time to enjoy it throughout the winter!

Good luck…

Some lovely sunrises, lots of ice on the canal and a couple of rivers and lakes that were quickly merging together, at the expense of the newly-laid track. At least my wellies stayed strong!

One good thing to come from this week’s rail strikes (and the subsequent week WFH) was my daily sunrise walks - something I really miss when I have to go into London. Fingers crossed that 2023 allows for a few more of them.
