10 Life Lessons I’ve Learnt From Mario Kart

Posted on July 16, 2010June 4, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Having played Mario Kart on the Nintendo Wii for a few years now, it struck me that there are lots of lessons one can learn from the game – not just for gaming, but for life itself. Here are mine: It’s not always best to be first too early. Some times it’s better to trundle…

My Top 4 Top 5 lists from a trip to Australia

Posted on July 11, 2010June 4, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Partially because I don’t blog often enough (at least on here), but also because I felt like doing something a bit different from my normal photos, I thought I’d make a record of a few of my memories from my recent trip to Australia. It was my first trip to the Asia/Pacific area, indeed it…

My Year in Photos – July 10th – "Smile for the camera", originally uploaded by henweb. Today’s photo was taken this afternoon, while Robert and I were relaxing in the sunshine in the garden. I went inside to get the camera while Robert was playing with his cars, but as soon as I came out…

My Year in Photos – July 1st – “Keep on trucking”

Posted on July 1, 2010July 11, 2010 by Henry Elliss

My Year in Photos – July 1st – "Keep on trucking", originally uploaded by henweb. I was on a half day today, so travelling to and from the office was pretty crucial to maximising my usefulness on half of the day I was there. Hence I was pretty annoyed when this massive lorry decided to…

My Year in Photos – June 11th – “To the happy couple!”

Posted on June 12, 2010July 11, 2010 by Henry Elliss

My Year in Photos – June 12th – "To the happy couple!", originally uploaded by henweb. Due to an early meeting in the east of Chiswick, I took a slightly different route to work today, via some of the back-streets of the area. As I was walking down one road, I came face to face…

My Year in Photos – May 30th – "You want Dubai some salt?", originally uploaded by henweb. We had a busy day today – well, busy by our standards anyway. As well as going to one of Robert’s friends’ 2nd birthday party (I thought I’d better not post a photo from that – some people…

As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I want As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I wanted to give a shout-out to all the farmers in the local area, especially Brimpton’s own @mbowden1954. One of my favourite aspects of living where we do now is being surrounded by countryside and farm land - and being able to see an actively-farmed field at the end of our garden. Every time something’s being done to the field I’m out with my camera, usually trying to figure out the names of all the machinery - and it’s so nice to see a product being grown right from seed to harvest. I know it’s not easy for farmers at the moment, and I dearly hope ours are able to keep farming for many years to come - so if you have one near you, make sure to show them all the support you can!
