Fatherhood: A Lego Mini(figure) Adventure

Posted on May 7, 2017January 6, 2018 by Henry Elliss

As most people who read this blog will probably be painfully aware, I’m a bit of a Lego fan. Actually, that’s probably an understatement – I’m a huge, geeky Lego fan – and thankfully my children like it quite a bit too. We have boxes and boxes of the stuff (all sorted by colour, obviously…

Fatherhood: Review – Lego Guardians of the Galaxy 2: Ayesha’s Revenge (76080)

Posted on March 15, 2017January 6, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Today we’ll be reviewing the next model in the new Lego “Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2” range, “Ayesha’s Revenge”. As with the first set (“Ravager Attack”) it’s a model inspired by the upcoming sequel – and like the other model, features a couple of elements that will probably make a lot more sense once…

Fatherhood: The Debenhams Big LEGO Challenge

Posted on March 6, 2017January 6, 2018 by Henry Elliss

As most of you will have gathered by now, our family are quite big fans of Lego. Whether it’s Ninjago, Superhero, Star Wars or Creator (and many more in between) we love them all – and I love reviewing the sets too. But the crafty people at Debenhams had a different challenge in mind –…

Fatherhood²: Finally, David Beckham and I have Something in Common

Posted on February 3, 2014January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Yesterday, I learned that David Beckham and I have something in common. No, I’ve not been holding a secret footballing ability back from you all these years – and I certainly don’t have a penchant for wearing sarongs. No, as it turns out, our common love is for something a little smaller – namely, Lego….

Fatherhood²: Is This The Most Frustrating Toy Ever?

Posted on October 2, 2013January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

As most of you will know, I’m a big fan of Lego, and have been for most of my life. Because of this, I often find my Facebook or Twitter timelines populated with Lego-related stories, accompanied by messages like “I saw this and thought of you!”. Occasionally, I even get Lego given to me as…

My Year in Photos – January 29th – “Building up to bedtime”

Posted on January 29, 2010November 26, 2010 by Henry Elliss

My Year in Photos – January 29th, originally uploaded by henweb. At the end of what has been a pretty fecking tiring week, I was pleased to come home and find that Robert was feeling much better, so much so that when I walked in he was treating his mum as a trampoline. For those…

Almost finished!

Posted on August 28, 2007 by Henry Elliss

Today was Tony’s last day at the house, and he managed to finish everything he planned to. All we have to do now is decorate a bit – paint the bathroom, treat the new doors etc. Henry also managed to hang a new door in the bedroom, which was a bit of a bonus!

That sink(ing) feeling…

Posted on August 22, 2007 by Henry Elliss

The building is coming along fast and furious, though the Reading Festival has eaten our builder for this friday so it probably won’t get finished this week. The bath is almost completely finished now, the sink is on the wall and plumbed in, the floor has been leveled and laminated, and the radiator’s on the…

Bathroom coming along nicely..

Posted on August 21, 2007 by Henry Elliss

The bathroom is coming along swimmingly, with a Friday finish looking quite probably now (finger’s crossed!)… The tiling is all but finished now, the shower tray is in and looking good, and the door is being bricked up as we speak…

The bathroom after the first 3 days…

Posted on August 18, 2007 by Henry Elliss

As you can see from the photos below, the new bathroom is coming along nicely. The progress has started to be really visible, with the biggest difference (and most annoying for the builder!) being the blocking up of the old back door, which has now been done – from the inside at least. The bath…

As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I want As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I wanted to give a shout-out to all the farmers in the local area, especially Brimpton’s own @mbowden1954. One of my favourite aspects of living where we do now is being surrounded by countryside and farm land - and being able to see an actively-farmed field at the end of our garden. Every time something’s being done to the field I’m out with my camera, usually trying to figure out the names of all the machinery - and it’s so nice to see a product being grown right from seed to harvest. I know it’s not easy for farmers at the moment, and I dearly hope ours are able to keep farming for many years to come - so if you have one near you, make sure to show them all the support you can!
