Fatherhood: Review – Chalkola Pens

Posted on December 21, 2016January 6, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Despite having only dropped into the Henry’s Blog mailbox this month (also known as the work pigeon hole in the Good Relations offices), the Chalkola Markers I’ve been reviewing for this post have turned out to be one of my favourite reviews of 2016. Sure, it helps that I’m already a bit of a liquid…

My Year in Photos – January 17th – “Paint me a picture”

Posted on January 17, 2010November 26, 2010 by Henry Elliss

My Year in Photos – January 17th, originally uploaded by henweb. Well, as my wife just pointed out to me, I’m afraid I’ve failed a bit on my original promise – namely that my ‘Year in Photos’ project wouldn’t just be pictures of my son. My excuse here is that my weekends are understandably filled…

Filling in the gaps

Posted on September 16, 2007 by Henry Elliss

One of the few areas which we hadn’t already painted is the area outside the bathroom – for the obvious reason that we were waiting until the bathroom was finished so we knew where to paint! Now that it IS finished, we’re painting the bit outside the door to match the rest of the hall…

Even more room, even less time.

Posted on April 24, 2005 by Henry Elliss

On a bright Sunday morning we got back to work, with the first job of the day being to apply damp-proof paint to the external walls. We decided not to go all the way up, as we were hoping to dry it in the same day so we could paint on top of it. Having…

The hallway painting is finished.

Posted on March 25, 2005 by Henry Elliss

This entry is a culmination of days, as the painting of the hall is a) by no means that exciting, and b) no way exciting enough to warrant more than a page’s worth of photos. In case you were wondering, we chose the colour scheme after seeing it done in a paint brochure, and we…

Mirror Mirror, on the wall…

Posted on March 12, 2005 by Henry Elliss

Once again finding ourselves at a (rare) loose end this weekend, we decided to crack on with all the little jobs that have been gagging to get finished. These included, in no particular order: Sanding down and painting the lounge radiator white (as opposed to wee-yellow, which it was) Applying the Caulk to the skirting…

As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I want As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I wanted to give a shout-out to all the farmers in the local area, especially Brimpton’s own @mbowden1954. One of my favourite aspects of living where we do now is being surrounded by countryside and farm land - and being able to see an actively-farmed field at the end of our garden. Every time something’s being done to the field I’m out with my camera, usually trying to figure out the names of all the machinery - and it’s so nice to see a product being grown right from seed to harvest. I know it’s not easy for farmers at the moment, and I dearly hope ours are able to keep farming for many years to come - so if you have one near you, make sure to show them all the support you can!
