Fatherhood: Guest Post – Everything is indeed awesome (or at least more enjoyable) when you’re part of a team

Posted on February 5, 2015January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

I’m changing jobs again, it’s become a habit and one I’ve learnt to embrace. Last time I switched I took the family to Egypt in that lovely between-jobs period when you’ve not got an old job to stress about and you’ve not yet started your new job to stress about, it was wonderful. This time…

New York. It’s an enormous place, and if you ever have the opportunity it’s a wonderful place to visit. It’s also surprisingly child friendly, they’ve got a fantastic safety record and it’s no problem at all to come back after the sun has set. One of the hardest parts is finding places to visit that…

Fatherhood²: Guest Post – Does Cbeebies have an Overtly Tory Agenda?

Posted on July 3, 2014January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

The following was written for the blog by my good friend Phill – I think (hope?) with tongue firmly in cheek. One thing’s for sure – Phill’s hatred of Mike the Knight knows no bounds… so you never know! As a Dad with a young child, CBeebies has taken up residence in my life for…

If you are looking for ways to extend the family budget, the answer may be right in front of your eyes! Glasses reglazing is becoming a more and more popular way to extend the life of favourite frames. With youngsters (do I mean “boys” in particular?) lenses seem to break more often. Reglazing allows the…

Fatherhood²: Guest Post – Get your kids Skydancing!

Posted on December 16, 2013January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Did you ever see one of those inflatable crazy dancing guys in front of a store? We drive pass one almost daily, and we’ve named him Crazy Guy. The kids have had a long time obsession with Crazy Guy, going back as far as they can remember. Whenever we pile into the car, the first…

So I have been given the privilege of writing a guest post for this blog… let me start by telling you who I am! I’ll set the scene first: it was a dark stormy night… well no it wasn’t but it would be more interesting. My story begins in March of 2012, when I found…

Guest Post – How to Deal with a Bad Secret Santa

Posted on October 23, 2013January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

We’ve all been there. The run up to Christmas means you get a randomly selected recipient for you amazing gifting skills, but fate deals you the weirdo that sits in the corner picking their nose, speaks to no one all year, and that you generally hate. Someone has to have them no matter how much…

Guest Post – Mercedes E63 AMG: Re-discover Your Pulse

Posted on September 30, 2013January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

So it’s time for a new car. What’s a dad to do? He can walk the straight and narrow and buy some supposedly practical box with no style, class, or performance…OR he can think out of the box. Look, you are a dad. That doesn’t mean you don’t want a car that looks great, makes…

As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I want As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I wanted to give a shout-out to all the farmers in the local area, especially Brimpton’s own @mbowden1954. One of my favourite aspects of living where we do now is being surrounded by countryside and farm land - and being able to see an actively-farmed field at the end of our garden. Every time something’s being done to the field I’m out with my camera, usually trying to figure out the names of all the machinery - and it’s so nice to see a product being grown right from seed to harvest. I know it’s not easy for farmers at the moment, and I dearly hope ours are able to keep farming for many years to come - so if you have one near you, make sure to show them all the support you can!
