My Year in Photos – January 2nd – “Holiday confusion”

Posted on January 2, 2010November 26, 2010 by Henry Elliss

My Year in Photos – January 2nd, originally uploaded by henweb. Despite the fact that the car park is still full of random piles of snow and ice, and this aisle also houses the left-over chocolate and goodies from the Christmas stock, this was the sight I was greeted with in Tesco Reading today: Easter…

My Year in Photos – January 1st – “A new dawn”

Posted on January 2, 2010November 26, 2010 by Henry Elliss

My Year in Photos – January 1st, originally uploaded by henweb. Having opened our last set of presents with my in-laws (I hope that doesn’t count as our 2010 Christmas…?!) we went for our usual post-lunch walk on Reigate Heath. This is a nice shot of the old windmill – a windmill which apparently used…

My 5 relatively-boring (online) aims for 2010

Posted on December 31, 2009June 4, 2018 by Henry Elliss

As I’ve just discovered that I can post blogs from my Blackberry, I thought I’d take this opportunity (I.e. A very dull train journey to work) to jot down some of my online aims for 2010. I know what you’re thinking – dull, Dull, DULL! I think the same every time I spot a “10…

Me on the BBC – I think my media career has peaked!

Posted on December 23, 2009June 4, 2018 by Henry Elliss

As a regular reader of Andrew Collins’ blog, I thought I’d take a leaf out of his book and post a screenshot of me on the TV last night. After all, these things don’t happen too often, so I’m going to revel in it just a teensy bit. If you want to see me in…

3 More Christmas Spirit-filled Movies

Posted on December 6, 2009June 4, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Almost the moment I hit “publish” on my post last week – “4 Movies to Get you in the Christmas Spirit” – I remembered a  number of films I’d missed. Not to mention all the people that responded to this and told me other films I should have included. So I thought I’d do another…

Downing Tweet – Other people’s blogs / pictures (UPDATED)

Posted on December 5, 2009June 4, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Following my earlier, gush-tastic post on my evening at Downing Street, I’m collating the other coverage the event got – partially for my own purposes, but also for anyone else who was there and wants to connect to other bloggers / posters from the night. Plus, I’m going to add in some good TwitPics of…

Downing Tweet Christmas Party

Posted on December 5, 2009June 4, 2018 by Henry Elliss

On Friday the 4th of December, 2009, I was lucky enough to be invited to attend a party hosted by the Prime Minister’s wife, Sarah Brown. Brown is a big Twitter advocate, with almost 1 million followers, and she apparently decided to hold a party for a selection of the people she interacts with on…

Planning my New Year Resolution – in Photos!

Posted on November 30, 2009June 4, 2018 by flickr

Claude Monet’s Garden, originally uploaded by henweb. Inspired by impressionist Jon Culshaw, who has apparently been doing this for a couple of years now, from January 1st 2010 I’m going to start taking and recording a photo for every single day of the year. I’m going to call it “My Year in Photos” – but…

4 Movies to get you in the Christmas spirit

Posted on November 29, 2009June 4, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987) Easily my favourite film to get me in to the Christmas spirit – which is odd, because it’s actually a movie set around American Thanksgiving. But since I’m not American, I call that a Christmas movie :) One of John Candy’s finest performances, and Steve Martin is his usual comedic…

To blog or not to blog – that is the question

Posted on November 29, 2009June 4, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Welcome to my brand new blog… possibly! I’ve been mulling over the idea of having my own blog for a few years now (how indecisive am I?!) and have finally decided to dip my toe in the water and see how it feels. It’s not a decision I’m taking lightly though. Just like the issue…

As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I want As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I wanted to give a shout-out to all the farmers in the local area, especially Brimpton’s own @mbowden1954. One of my favourite aspects of living where we do now is being surrounded by countryside and farm land - and being able to see an actively-farmed field at the end of our garden. Every time something’s being done to the field I’m out with my camera, usually trying to figure out the names of all the machinery - and it’s so nice to see a product being grown right from seed to harvest. I know it’s not easy for farmers at the moment, and I dearly hope ours are able to keep farming for many years to come - so if you have one near you, make sure to show them all the support you can!
