Fatherhood: 5 Ways to be a Better Father in 2016

Posted on January 4, 2016January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

As a rule, I don’t really go for New Year Resolutions – never have really, but even less so as I get older. Much like most of the promises and plans we make in January, 90% of them are a distant memory by March, so what’s the point in deluding ourselves? If you want to…

With the big day fast approaching, children everywhere (both young and old) will inevitably be searching around for that perfect gift for the father in their life. If you’re finding it all a bit of a struggle, I’m here to help. Just like last year, I’ve done my research and have found 5 gifts which…

Fatherhood²: Huggies Think us Dads are Lazy

Posted on October 20, 2014January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

According to “research” released today, a large proportion of fathers pretend to be asleep when their child cries during the night. To summarise what is essentially a press release for a nappy company, dads are arse holes who leave the serious stuff to mum. Let me caveat this post by saying that, as a marketer…

Fatherhood²: Funny Dads. What a bunch of Jokers.

Posted on October 16, 2014January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

I’ve never professed to being a parenting expert – far from it in fact. Despite the fact that I run a blog about being a dad, most of you will know by now that I’m just muddling my way through like the rest of them. One thing I HAVE learnt in my 6+ years as…

For those of you that haven’t yet finished your Christmas shopping – and hopefully that’s quite a few of you, or I’m going to feel vastly unprepared here – I thought I’d attempt to do dads everywhere a favour and make a few suggestions for presents you can get the dad in your life this…

Fatherhood²: Dear Morrisons – Dads Aren’t All Morons

Posted on October 26, 2013January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Dear Morrisons Let me start this “open letter” (if Sinead O’Connor can do it, why can’t I?) by telling you that I generally love your supermarkets. You provide affordable food, you have brilliantly weird mist-spraying things to make your vegetables moist and you’ve always got at least one of my favourite wines on offer. In…

Fatherhood²: Help Me Make One of my Parenting Inventions A Reality!

Posted on September 25, 2013January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

If you’re anything like me, becoming a parent will have made your life infinitely busier – and you’re bound to have thought of a few ideas that would make your lives easier. I know I do – whether it’s inventions to keep your house tidier, occupy the children, make things safer or just a bit…

Fatherhood²: A Camping We Will Go – It’s Just Like Riding a Bike, Right?

Posted on August 5, 2013April 11, 2019 by Henry Elliss

In an exciting development for this family, this Wednesday will see us heading off on our first ever camping trip. We’re packed, we have a brand-spanking-new tent (and virtually every accessory you can think of) and we’ll be hitting the M4 in less than 48 hours. As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I want As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I wanted to give a shout-out to all the farmers in the local area, especially Brimpton’s own @mbowden1954. One of my favourite aspects of living where we do now is being surrounded by countryside and farm land - and being able to see an actively-farmed field at the end of our garden. Every time something’s being done to the field I’m out with my camera, usually trying to figure out the names of all the machinery - and it’s so nice to see a product being grown right from seed to harvest. I know it’s not easy for farmers at the moment, and I dearly hope ours are able to keep farming for many years to come - so if you have one near you, make sure to show them all the support you can!
