Posted on September 3, 2014January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Today is my wife’s birthday – I won’t embarrass her by telling you her age (older than she looks – that’s a nice thing to say, right? I hope so) but I will tell you that she is one of the least publicity-hungry people I know. She never gets the credit she deserves on my…

Fatherhood²: Family Days Out – The Natural History Museum

Posted on August 29, 2014June 4, 2018 by Henry Elliss

With just a few days left of the summer holidays, I’m probably far too late to be of any use with this review – but hey, when has irrelevance ever stopped me writing a blog post? Last weekend (after our trip to the View from the Shard) we headed over to the Natural History Museum…

Fatherhood²: In Defence of President Business

Posted on August 24, 2014January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Ever since the Lego Movie came out this year, I have earned myself a new nickname in our house: President Business. Now I should probably clarify at this stage, I don’t THINK they’re suggesting I’m an evil, maniacal overlord who wants to destroy cities and stamp on all types of creativity. I THINK they’re calling…

Fatherhood²: Family Days Out – The Shard

Posted on August 23, 2014June 4, 2018 by Henry Elliss

As I’ve reviewed a few family days-out now (all at my own behest, I hasten to add – though if anybody wants to send us anywhere nice, just shout!) I decided I might as well make a bit of a feature of it and review some of the other days out that we have as…

Posted on August 22, 2014January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

* Mainly through lack of sleep Earlier this week we arrived home from a holiday in Brittany, France – the little (and very historic) town of Carnac to be precise. And we sure had an eventful week! As well as being Freddie’s first trip abroad, it was our first holiday with a big group –…

Fatherhood²: How to Teach British Values to Toddlers – the Easy Way! Through TV

Posted on August 10, 2014January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Here in the UK, the government recently conducted a pre-election reshuffle – which saw the famous nincompoop Michael Gove losing his ‘Education Secretary’ title to Nicky Morgan. Sensing the need to make some headlines to cement her new position, Morgan announced this week that she would be pushing through changes which would see toddlers as…

Guest Post – 5 Family-Friendly Sights to See in New York City

Posted on August 8, 2014January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

New York. It’s an enormous place, and if you ever have the opportunity it’s a wonderful place to visit. It’s also surprisingly child friendly, they’ve got a fantastic safety record and it’s no problem at all to come back after the sun has set. One of the hardest parts is finding places to visit that…

Fatherhood: 15 Things Game of Thrones Can Teach You about Parenting

Posted on August 6, 2014January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Raising children can be a beautiful experience, but even the most hardened and successful parent will probably admit that there are times when it can be tricky. During the tougher times, it can be good to look outside of your immediate circle of family and friends for advice. Some people read books, some for groups,…

Fatherhood²: Review – The BOOMco Rapid Madness

Posted on August 4, 2014January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Back in April, we reviewed the BoomCo ‘Twisted Spinner’ blaster – you can read it here, or just watch the video we made at the bottom of the post. We must have done something right, because the latest release from BoomCo has arrived, and we were once again asked to review it. Much like the…

As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I want As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I wanted to give a shout-out to all the farmers in the local area, especially Brimpton’s own @mbowden1954. One of my favourite aspects of living where we do now is being surrounded by countryside and farm land - and being able to see an actively-farmed field at the end of our garden. Every time something’s being done to the field I’m out with my camera, usually trying to figure out the names of all the machinery - and it’s so nice to see a product being grown right from seed to harvest. I know it’s not easy for farmers at the moment, and I dearly hope ours are able to keep farming for many years to come - so if you have one near you, make sure to show them all the support you can!
