Posted on June 21, 2016January 6, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Now as you will probably have figured out by now, neither of my children are driving age yet – something I’m certainly thankful of, given their general craziness! But when they do get a little bit older and start wanting to learn to drive, you can bet your bottom dollar I’ll be a nervous wreck….

Fatherhood: Labour Room Advice for Dads

Posted on June 6, 2016January 6, 2018 by Henry Elliss

One of the strange quirks of parent blogging is the way your focus changes as your children grow and develop. Where I initially started blogging with a newborn, I’m now the father to 4 and 7 year olds, so the stuff I’m going through (and which I naturally focus on while blogging) is very different…

Fatherhood: First Day Nerves – Parental Empathy

Posted on May 9, 2016January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

There are many moments in life where I empathise with my children, but very few of them hits as hard as today. On this beautiful spring Monday morning I find myself realising exactly how my children have felt on a number of occasions recently. Today, I start a new job. Whilst this may be a…

Posted on May 4, 2016June 4, 2018 by Henry Elliss

The lovely people at Money-saving site QuidCo are conducting some interesting research relating to why we love our local high street. If you (like me) thought QuidCo was an “online only” thing, you might be surprised to find out that QuidCo deals can also be done in regular, high street shops! As part of the…

Fatherhood: Review – MARVELous CROSS pens

Posted on April 22, 2016January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

As a blogger, most of my writing tends to be via a keyboard (or occassionally a touch-screen, if I’m bored on the train) – I very rarely get any time to do much handwriting these days. So, when I DO get the urge to write freehand, I like to make sure I’ve got a SUPER…

Fatherhood: A Grown-up guide to Snapchat

Posted on April 5, 2016January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

With Snapchat growing more popular by the day, many parents (and bloggers) are joining the service to “see what all the fuss is about”. And more than a few of them are left scratching their heads. Since I myself struggled when I joined, I decided to write this guide as a helpful companion to those…

As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I want As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I wanted to give a shout-out to all the farmers in the local area, especially Brimpton’s own @mbowden1954. One of my favourite aspects of living where we do now is being surrounded by countryside and farm land - and being able to see an actively-farmed field at the end of our garden. Every time something’s being done to the field I’m out with my camera, usually trying to figure out the names of all the machinery - and it’s so nice to see a product being grown right from seed to harvest. I know it’s not easy for farmers at the moment, and I dearly hope ours are able to keep farming for many years to come - so if you have one near you, make sure to show them all the support you can!
