Fatherhood: A Lego Mini(figure) Adventure

Posted on May 7, 2017January 6, 2018 by Henry Elliss

As most people who read this blog will probably be painfully aware, I’m a bit of a Lego fan. Actually, that’s probably an understatement – I’m a huge, geeky Lego fan – and thankfully my children like it quite a bit too. We have boxes and boxes of the stuff (all sorted by colour, obviously…

Fatherhood: 100 Year Old Organisation, or F1 team?

Posted on March 29, 2017January 6, 2018 by Henry Elliss

If I were to tell you that my son owns a piece of clothing associated with a world-famous organisation which contains the branding of half a dozen major organisations, I suspect you’d think he was a fan of Formula 1 racing. Failing that, maybe some major American sport, where sponsorships are more important than the…

Fatherhood: Review – Lego Guardians of the Galaxy 2: The Milano vs. The Abilisk (76081)

Posted on March 19, 2017January 6, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Well, after an epic few sessions of Lego building, where we reviewed the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 Lego sets “Ravager Attack” and “Ayesha’s Revenge“, we finally come to the grand finale – the biggest set of the bunch. In case you aren’t familiar with the Guardians of the Galaxy films, the “Milano” is…

Fatherhood: Review – Lego Guardians of the Galaxy 2: Ayesha’s Revenge (76080)

Posted on March 15, 2017January 6, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Today we’ll be reviewing the next model in the new Lego “Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2” range, “Ayesha’s Revenge”. As with the first set (“Ravager Attack”) it’s a model inspired by the upcoming sequel – and like the other model, features a couple of elements that will probably make a lot more sense once…

Fatherhood: Review – Lego Guardians of the Galaxy 2: Ravager Attack (76079)

Posted on March 13, 2017January 6, 2018 by Henry Elliss

When it comes to blogging, I’ve always told myself that I need to maintain an even mix of reviews and other less-commercial content. Partly because I didn’t start blogging to review products – I started because I wanted to share some of the joys (and challenges) of parenting with my fellow parents. But also in…

Fatherhood: Taking the Redex Fuel Challenge

Posted on March 12, 2017May 11, 2022 by Henry Elliss

With the last frosty days of Winter now behind us, thoughts inevitably turn to the Spring and all the opportunities it holds. In our house, one of those opportunities is the chance to get back in the great outdoors. Whether it’s some camping trips, days out at the local National Trust properties, seeing friends or…

Fatherhood: The Debenhams Big LEGO Challenge

Posted on March 6, 2017January 6, 2018 by Henry Elliss

As most of you will have gathered by now, our family are quite big fans of Lego. Whether it’s Ninjago, Superhero, Star Wars or Creator (and many more in between) we love them all – and I love reviewing the sets too. But the crafty people at Debenhams had a different challenge in mind –…

Fatherhood: Review – Lego Super Heroes Iron Man: Detroit Steel Strikes

Posted on February 12, 2017January 6, 2018 by Henry Elliss

When I first heard that this Lego set was being released, I got way more excited than you’d probably imagine a grown-up man getting. Not because I’m a huge “Detroit Steel” fan, but because of the other Marvel Hero introduced in this set. The character in question is possibly the most pivotal in the entire…

Thankfully, we weren’t disappointed – this year sees the release of a whole new set! Just like the first series, this line comprises of 3…

Fatherhood: How-to – Make a Lego Minifigure Storage Display for under £5

Posted on January 29, 2017August 19, 2022 by Henry Elliss

If you are a collector of Lego Minifigures – either the ‘blind bag’ collections or perhaps a particular range – you might struggle to find a good solution to storing them all in a nice display case. Sure, you can buy a variety of options that do the job, but they’re all very expensive and…

As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I want As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I wanted to give a shout-out to all the farmers in the local area, especially Brimpton’s own @mbowden1954. One of my favourite aspects of living where we do now is being surrounded by countryside and farm land - and being able to see an actively-farmed field at the end of our garden. Every time something’s being done to the field I’m out with my camera, usually trying to figure out the names of all the machinery - and it’s so nice to see a product being grown right from seed to harvest. I know it’s not easy for farmers at the moment, and I dearly hope ours are able to keep farming for many years to come - so if you have one near you, make sure to show them all the support you can!
