Fatherhood: Review – Lego Guardians of the Galaxy 2: Ayesha’s Revenge (76080)

Posted on March 15, 2017January 6, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Today we’ll be reviewing the next model in the new Lego “Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2” range, “Ayesha’s Revenge”. As with the first set (“Ravager Attack”) it’s a model inspired by the upcoming sequel – and like the other model, features a couple of elements that will probably make a lot more sense once…

Fatherhood: Review – Lego Guardians of the Galaxy 2: Ravager Attack (76079)

Posted on March 13, 2017January 6, 2018 by Henry Elliss

When it comes to blogging, I’ve always told myself that I need to maintain an even mix of reviews and other less-commercial content. Partly because I didn’t start blogging to review products – I started because I wanted to share some of the joys (and challenges) of parenting with my fellow parents. But also in…

Fatherhood: Taking the Redex Fuel Challenge

Posted on March 12, 2017May 11, 2022 by Henry Elliss

With the last frosty days of Winter now behind us, thoughts inevitably turn to the Spring and all the opportunities it holds. In our house, one of those opportunities is the chance to get back in the great outdoors. Whether it’s some camping trips, days out at the local National Trust properties, seeing friends or…

Fatherhood: Review – Lego Super Heroes Iron Man: Detroit Steel Strikes

Posted on February 12, 2017January 6, 2018 by Henry Elliss

When I first heard that this Lego set was being released, I got way more excited than you’d probably imagine a grown-up man getting. Not because I’m a huge “Detroit Steel” fan, but because of the other Marvel Hero introduced in this set. The character in question is possibly the most pivotal in the entire…

Posted on February 4, 2017April 16, 2024 by Henry Elliss

Having bought the kids the complete set of Super Hero “Mighty Micros” sets last year for their birthdays, we have been eagerly awaiting the release of more from the series. Thankfully, we weren’t disappointed – this year sees the release of a whole new set! Just like the first series, this line comprises of 3…

Fatherhood: Review – O2 Smart Home (Pt 1)

Posted on January 3, 2017January 6, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Just before Christmas, a lovely chap got in touch from O2, to ask if I’d like to take part in a home test/trial thingy for their snazzy new “Smart Home” technology. Designed to connect and automate many of your regular tasks around the home, the start of Winter seemed like the ideal time to give…

Fatherhood: Review – Chalkola Pens

Posted on December 21, 2016January 6, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Despite having only dropped into the Henry’s Blog mailbox this month (also known as the work pigeon hole in the Good Relations offices), the Chalkola Markers I’ve been reviewing for this post have turned out to be one of my favourite reviews of 2016. Sure, it helps that I’m already a bit of a liquid…

Fatherhood: Competition – Fireplace Accessory Set

Posted on December 11, 2016January 6, 2018 by Henry Elliss

With Winter now firmly making it’s presence felt, there’s nothing I like to do more of an evening than sit in front of our log fire. When we originally moved to this house, I wasn’t really very fussed on having a real fireplace – it was a “nice to have” but not a deal-breaker by…

Fatherhood: Review – Lego Star Wars ‘Tie Striker’ Rogue One Set

Posted on October 10, 2016 by Henry Elliss

Today is an exciting day. It might not seem like much to you, but today I have fulfilled a dream which I have been working towards for nearly five years – ever since I started this very blog, in fact. Yes, today (well, very recently anyway) I was asked to review a new Lego set….

Fatherhood: Family Days Out – A Day out on the Thames in London

Posted on August 29, 2016June 4, 2018 by Henry Elliss

With the chaos of 2016 showing no signs of calming down, and a new house to save for, we opted for another ‘staycation’ this year. With Sara and the boys off for their usual 6 week school holiday, I was lucky enough to be able to take a week away from the office and spend…

As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I want As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I wanted to give a shout-out to all the farmers in the local area, especially Brimpton’s own @mbowden1954. One of my favourite aspects of living where we do now is being surrounded by countryside and farm land - and being able to see an actively-farmed field at the end of our garden. Every time something’s being done to the field I’m out with my camera, usually trying to figure out the names of all the machinery - and it’s so nice to see a product being grown right from seed to harvest. I know it’s not easy for farmers at the moment, and I dearly hope ours are able to keep farming for many years to come - so if you have one near you, make sure to show them all the support you can!
