Fatherhood²: Family Days Out – Thomas Land at Drayton Manor

Posted on September 15, 2014June 4, 2018 by Henry Elliss

For Freddie’s birthday treat this year, we decided to head to the Midlands to experience the delights of ‘Thomas Land’ – the Thomas the Tank Engine-themed park which nestles itself inside Drayton Manor, up near Birmingham. As a regular viewer of the aforementioned Thomas, the moment Freddie heard Thomas Land existed he wanted to visit…

Fatherhood²: Family Days Out – The Natural History Museum

Posted on August 29, 2014June 4, 2018 by Henry Elliss

With just a few days left of the summer holidays, I’m probably far too late to be of any use with this review – but hey, when has irrelevance ever stopped me writing a blog post? Last weekend (after our trip to the View from the Shard) we headed over to the Natural History Museum…

Fatherhood²: Family Days Out – The Shard

Posted on August 23, 2014June 4, 2018 by Henry Elliss

As I’ve reviewed a few family days-out now (all at my own behest, I hasten to add – though if anybody wants to send us anywhere nice, just shout!) I decided I might as well make a bit of a feature of it and review some of the other days out that we have as…

Fatherhood²: Review – The BOOMco Rapid Madness

Posted on August 4, 2014January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Back in April, we reviewed the BoomCo ‘Twisted Spinner’ blaster – you can read it here, or just watch the video we made at the bottom of the post. We must have done something right, because the latest release from BoomCo has arrived, and we were once again asked to review it. Much like the…

Fatherhood²: Family Days Out – Warwick Castle

Posted on July 8, 2014June 4, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Having been planning a weekend at Thomas Land @ Drayton Manor for some time (to celebrate Freddie’s 3rd birthday), our plans went slightly awry a few weeks before hand when we discovered that the park was semi-closed on the day we’d been planning to visit. As we’d already booked our hotel for the Saturday night,…

Fatherhood²: Review – Football + Pizza = WIN

Posted on June 23, 2014January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

I know I start most of my ‘review’ posts with a ream of excuses about how rubbish I am at doing reviews, or what strange things I get offered and turn away. But this week’s offer was a no-brainer, frankly. Yes, when a nice lady representing Dominos pizza asked if I wanted to try their…

Fatherhood²: Need a Last-minute Father’s Day Gift?

Posted on June 13, 2014January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Whilst Father’s Day should be like Christmas to a dad blogger (as many of my dad-blogging friends will attest), it has the inconvenient habit of falling right in the middle of my two sons’ birthdays. This year it sits the day after Robert’s 6th birthday party, the week before we’re heading off on a camping…

Fatherhood²: Review – Corkcicle & Chillsner

Posted on May 31, 2014January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

I’ve been the proud owner of a Corkcicle wine cooler since Christmas, when I saw it in a quirky shop while shopping in London. So when the people that make them contacted me and asked me to review one, I was quick to point out that I had one and was already sold on it’s…

Fatherhood²: Review – The Little Boy Who Lost His Name

Posted on May 25, 2014January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

I quite often get asked to review books for children. Books that are written for children, I mean – I don’t get kids coming up to me in libraries asking me to summarise ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’ – that would be silly. No, I often get asked whether authors can send me a copy of their…

Fatherhood²: Review – Westfield Isn’t Just for Clothes Shopping

Posted on May 22, 2014January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

As most of you will have gathered by now, I’m not very good at doing reviews. Don’t get me wrong, I quite enjoy doing reviews – especially when they’re more than just objects. And for some strange reason, people keep asking me to review stuff – so I merrily carry on. This latest assignment was…

As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I want As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I wanted to give a shout-out to all the farmers in the local area, especially Brimpton’s own @mbowden1954. One of my favourite aspects of living where we do now is being surrounded by countryside and farm land - and being able to see an actively-farmed field at the end of our garden. Every time something’s being done to the field I’m out with my camera, usually trying to figure out the names of all the machinery - and it’s so nice to see a product being grown right from seed to harvest. I know it’s not easy for farmers at the moment, and I dearly hope ours are able to keep farming for many years to come - so if you have one near you, make sure to show them all the support you can!
