Fatherhood: 7 Posts I’ve Not Had Time to Write Recently but May do One Day

Posted on July 7, 2015January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Posted on July 1, 2015January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

This morning my wife and I attended an appeal hearing at the local council building, to appeal the placement of our son Freddie at the school he has been placed in. Or more accurately, to appeal the decision to NOT send him to the school his older brother currently attends. I won’t go into the…

Fatherhood: And now, a musical interlude…

Posted on June 25, 2015June 4, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Like his brother, Freddie sometimes has trouble pronouncing certain letters. It doesn’t seem to be permanent – I’ve come to the conclusion it’s probably just laziness, as he CAN say all these sounds – and thankfully, it doesn’t seem to bother him. One of the sounds he sometimes struggles with is his “CH” sound which…

Fatherhood: 8 Things I’ve Discovered as a Father

Posted on June 18, 2015January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

One unfortunate quirk of the “rise of the blogger” – or more accurately, the rise of brands realising we exist – is that Father’s Day has turned into the Christmas of dad blogging. As a result, you will probably have spotted that many dad bloggers have suddenly had a glut of sponsored posts, competitions and…

Fatherhood: Don’t be a Dull Dad… Dad Jokes FTW!

Posted on June 17, 2015January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

As you can probably tell by now, Father’s Day (and the weeks running up to it) have no become the defacto time for brands to think about dads in their marketing campaigns. Whilst it will be nice if they remember us for the rest of the year, I’m not going to look a gift horse…

Fatherhood: Review – Hot Wheels Super Speed Blastway

Posted on June 6, 2015January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

My kids are already big fans of Hot Wheels, so when the folks at Mattel asked if they could send us their newest track-set to test out – along with a t-shirt from the new Hot Wheels collection – my boys jumped at the chance! The ‘Super Speed Blastway’ (I don’t know who comes up…

Dear Hollywood – stop treating bloggers like idiots

Posted on June 4, 2015January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

As you’ve probably guessed from the title, I’m about to have a rant. And not just a “Henry woke up on the wrong side of the bed” type of rant – this is one of those rants that is likely to get me blacklisted by just about every entertainment brand out there, forever highlighted in…

Fatherhood: Kids and Tech and Me

Posted on May 25, 2015January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Any of you who have come into contact with me online will know that I’ve got a reasonably keen eye for a good gadget. Back when I first started this blog in 2011, for instance, I wrote a piece called “Baby gadgets aren’t always baby good-gets” which outlined some of my favourite gadgets for making…

As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I want As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I wanted to give a shout-out to all the farmers in the local area, especially Brimpton’s own @mbowden1954. One of my favourite aspects of living where we do now is being surrounded by countryside and farm land - and being able to see an actively-farmed field at the end of our garden. Every time something’s being done to the field I’m out with my camera, usually trying to figure out the names of all the machinery - and it’s so nice to see a product being grown right from seed to harvest. I know it’s not easy for farmers at the moment, and I dearly hope ours are able to keep farming for many years to come - so if you have one near you, make sure to show them all the support you can!
