Fatherhood: I Made It! Well, according to Netflix…

Posted on May 11, 2015January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

In what I can only assume is some sort of clerical error, the people at Netflix UK have deemed me worthy of joining their ‘Stream Team’. Aside from being an excellent, rhyming name, I’m not entirely what this involves but they have sent me a Netflix subscription and will keep me updated when new stuff…

Fatherhood: Review – The Toucan Box

Posted on May 5, 2015January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Another week, another review – I must be getting better at this! Either that or the people offering me things to review haven’t actually read any of my other reviews. But it can’t be that, surely? :D Anyway, the people behind the ‘Toucan Box‘ club (club is the best word I can think of for…

Fatherhood: Taking the JCB Fresh Air Challenge!

Posted on April 26, 2015January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

As most of you will know, I often struggle when it comes to creating good posts on behalf of brands. My reviews are paltry at best, and when brands as for other things I usually fail to figure out how to creatively bring their wishes to life. So when JCB asked me to take part…

Fatherhood: My Son just Made me Homer Simpson

Posted on April 20, 2015January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Having now been a parent for close to seven years, the list of ways that my children make me happy is enough to fill up a large-volume novel. Every day I wake up a dad, I count my blessings – I’m fully aware of how lucky I am, what a charmed life I lead and…

Fatherhood: Review – Nickelodeon Turtle Power!

Posted on April 13, 2015January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

As with most of my reviews, I should probably start this particular one with a disclaimer: I don’t pretend to be a consumer champion, an expert reviewer or (as you can probably tell) a genius wordsmith. To be honest, I’m not even sure why people bother to ask me to review stuff. But ask me…

Fatherhood: Our Revolutionary New Parental Incentive Scheme – and Why it’s Failing!

Posted on April 1, 2015January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

In an effort to incentivise our children to do good things, parents turn to many different options. Some choose money – whether ‘pocket’ money or ad-hoc rewards – others choose praise (good luck making that last past 18 months!). Some reward with presents, some use sticky charts or tables and some believe that to ‘reward’…

Fatherhood: A Crafty Mother’s Day in 10 Photos

Posted on March 15, 2015January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

When the clever people at Tesco asked if they could send the boys and myself a little box of Mother’s Day surprises, I (as ever) jumped at the offer – what better day to celebrate the woman of the household than with some home-made goodies and a bit of pampering. Rather than waffle-on about how…

Fatherhood: Review – Heroes of the City

Posted on March 1, 2015January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Around this time last year, I ran a competition for some ‘Heroes of the City‘ goodies – a competition which generated quite a lot of interest. And Heroes of the City did the same for my children – they’ve watched the 1 DVD we own of the show NUMEROUS times since then, and still quote…

Fatherhood: Review – I’ve been Framed

Posted on February 17, 2015January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

Most of the items I get contacted about reviewing for this blog are child-related – and usually in a pretty obvious way. So I found myself scratching my head a little when the folks at eFrame got in touch to ask if I’d like to review their online picture frame service. However, whilst scratching my…

Fatherhood: Guest Post – And then there were 4

Posted on February 9, 2015January 7, 2018 by Henry Elliss

I don’t write about my children often. I love sharing pictures and amusing stories, but when it comes to anything serious I was always conscious of coming across as one of those people who either never shuts up about their kids, or would imply that a certain method of parenting is better than another. But…

As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I want As today is ‘Back British Farming’ day, I wanted to give a shout-out to all the farmers in the local area, especially Brimpton’s own @mbowden1954. One of my favourite aspects of living where we do now is being surrounded by countryside and farm land - and being able to see an actively-farmed field at the end of our garden. Every time something’s being done to the field I’m out with my camera, usually trying to figure out the names of all the machinery - and it’s so nice to see a product being grown right from seed to harvest. I know it’s not easy for farmers at the moment, and I dearly hope ours are able to keep farming for many years to come - so if you have one near you, make sure to show them all the support you can!
